Medicare Advantage Enrollment Periods
Annual Enrollment period is from October 15th until December 7th each year. During that enrollment periods a Beneficiary can elect to change from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another. They can also elect to change to a different Prescription Drug Plan. The enrollment period doesn’t apply to Medigap supplement Plans.
Here’s a quick rundown of what you can do during the Annual Enrollment Period:
Change to a Medicare Advantage plan from Original Medicare, Part A and Part B.
Change from an Advantage plan to Original Medicare, Part A and Part B.
Change from one Advantage plan to another (regardless of whether either plan offers drug coverage).
Join a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
Change from one prescription drug plan to another.
Opt out of prescription drug coverage completely.
Changes you make during the AEP go into effect January 1 of the next year.
However, there are also other special election periods which may be available to beneficiaries. After enrolling you can look at Medicare Supplement Plans in Arizona and add a prescription drug plan or an Arizona Medicare Advantage Plan.
